Cursor Lets You Control Your Local Agents From an iPhone
With Cursor's remote control you can watch and reply to the agents running on your computer from the iOS app, without moving them to the cloud.
Key points
- From the Cursor iOS app you can see and reply to the agents running on your computer.
- The agents stay on your machine: nothing moves to the cloud.
- The computer has to stay on, online and awake.
- It is on by default; on Enterprise accounts the admin decides.
On 6 October Cursor, the AI code editor, added remote control for local agents. If you leave a coding agent working on your computer, you can now follow what it is doing and reply to it from your phone.
How it works
- Sign in to the Cursor iOS app.
- Tap your computer in the app and approve the pairing in Cursor on your desktop.
- From then on you can see the running agents and message them: answer a question, approve a step or change course.
Unlike Projects, which Cursor launched in September, the agents do not move to the cloud: they stay on your computer, with your files and settings. Your phone is just a remote.
What you need
- The computer on and online. For long tasks, turn on “Keep this computer awake” and keep it plugged in with the lid open.
- An iPhone: Cursor does not mention an Android version.
- On Enterprise accounts it is off until an admin turns it on. For everyone else it is on by default.
What it means for you
- If you hand long tasks to an agent, you no longer have to sit in front of the screen waiting for it to ask you something.
- If you worry about security, it is a better option than moving your code to the cloud: the agent stays on your machine and pairing is approved from it. Still, think about which permissions you give it (see agent safety).
